QUALITY EDUCATION CHANGES LIVES
Education is central to development and to the improvement of the lives of vulnerable youth globally, and has been identified as one of the key determinants of health.
Education is important in eradicating poverty and hunger and in promoting sustained, inclusive and equitable economic growth and sustainable development. Increased efforts towards education accessibility, quality and affordability are central to the aims of Resolute Clothing Co and its valued charitable partners.
While there have been improvements in education, the associated challenges vulnerable youth face in poverty, under-resourced schools, social and economic pressures, the success rates of teens completing high school and transitioning to post-secondary education are staggering.
Many education and training institutions do not provide young people with the basic skills needed to escape poverty and unemployment, even when they continue to receive formal education. Non-formal education programmes can fill this gap by providing 21st learning and skills development that are relevant to vulnerable youth.
Often provided through youth and community based organizations, non-formal education provide the learning of life-relevant knowledge and skills, especially for disadvantaged and marginalized groups. This is one reason why Resolute Clothing Co donates proceeds from the sale of its products to charitable partners.
We, at Resolute Clothing, view non-formal educational opportunities, not as an alternative to formal education, but part of a complementary skills based approach, equipping vulnerable youth with the tools to meet the competing demands of employment and personal life.
